Highways England Announces A19 Roadworks

Highways England has announced roadworks are to be undertaken on a section of the A19 near Thirsk in North Yorkshire.

A section of the northbound carriageway between the A19/A61 South Kilvington Interchange and A684 Osmotherley Interchange will be closed today 27 May until the 20 June.

This is due to resurfacing and repair work being carried out.

The closures will effect an 8.3 mile stretch between Nether Silton, Over Silton and Borrowby Junction.

A 50mph speed limit will be in operation due as a temporary road surface will be in place.

The road will be closed between 8pm–6am each day.

Project Manager Kyle Maylard said: "Sections of the carriageway will be resurfaced to provide drivers with smoother and safer journeys.

"We have planned the work to be carried out in phases and overnight, when traffic flows are at their lowest, to minimise disruption."

Diverted traffic will head northbound on the A19 and follow the diversion route via the A19/A61 South Kilvington Interchange to the northbound exit slip road.

Drivers will then continue on the A168 to Northallerton before joining the A684 Osmotherley Interchange northbound entry slip road and following existing signs back to the A19.
