NG Bailey has been awarded a contract to modernise a children's hospital in Sheffield.

The £7 million contract involves the delivery of mechanical and electrical (M&E) services to the £40 million pound extension of Sheffield Children's Hospital.

The main project is a mix of new build and refurbishments of existing facilities.

The expansion involves the development of a three storey ward that will become home to three existing wards.

Each ward will have more single rooms with en-suite facilities.

Working in partnership with contractor Simons Group, NG Bailey will complete its on-site role in August 2016.

Works include developing corridor modules, risers and plant rooms services offsite before being transported in phases to Sheffield for installation.

The company has already installed two new generators that will supply the hospital with emergency power.

An old generator and LV switchboard were removed with existing power cables cut and diverted onto a new switchboard.
