Barr Construction has announced the completion of the steel frame for a cinema and hotel development in Darlington.

The £30 million Feethams Leisure complex will include a nine screen Vue cinema, an 80 bed Premier Inn hotel and a number of restaurants.

The scheme will also involve an undercroft car park and outdoor terraces.

Developers Terrace Hill appointed Barr to deliver the complex.

Jim Harkness, Project Manager at Barr said: "We have reached an important milestone in delivering this high quality leisure facility which will no doubt become a central community hub for the people of Darlington.

"Now that the building has its steel frame completed, people can get a sense of how the leisure development is taking shape as we progress to completion."

Simon Hawkins, development director at Terrace Hill, said: "We are proud to be delivering Feethams Darlington with an exceptional local workforce and are on target for people to be watching movies, meeting friends and enjoying great food on this very spot next spring."

Barr has been on site since September 2014 and the project is expected to be completed in early 2016.
