ISG has announced work is underway to redevelop listed buildings in West Yorkshire.

The Grade Two Listed Princess Buildings in Halifax are part of a £6.2 million redevelopment project.

The building will be refurbished and built into contemporary, majority open plan office accommodation for council staff.

ISG will unify floor levels and upgrade the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of the building.

Two modern towers and a 1960's office extension have been removed as part of the development.

The company will also install modern insulation and develop a three-storey link building.

Historic internal features in the former banking hall including glass lay lights, ornate ceilings, decorative plaster coverings and mosaic floor tiles will be retained and repaired.

The original bank vaults in the basement and an early lift will also be restored.

Danny Murray, ISG's Northern regional Managing Director, said: "Our latest project for Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council highlights the broad spectrum of skills and expertise required for such a highly-complex and logistically challenging heritage building redevelopment."
