Mace has started developing a £240 million regeneration scheme in Bracknell's town centre.

The sites foundations were laid on 27 April for a new 585,000 sq ft leisure centre and retail space.

Plans include building ten restaurants, a 12-screen Cineworld cinema, 1,300 parking spaces and 60 shops along with new houses.

Over 1,000 rotary bored piles will be installed by three piling rigs over the first phase of the development which will last approximately 12 weeks.


Andrew James, Mace Project Director, said: "Since we started the works on site we have been removing the mounds of excess earth and reforming the site to the correct levels for the new development.

"We have also been laying the stock piles of crushed material out over the site to form a stable platform to enable the piling rigs to work and install the piled foundations. The crushed material was obtained from demolishing the existing town centre buildings.

"We expect piling to continue for the next 12 weeks. Following this, local residents will begin to see the shape of the new town centre later in the summer when we start works above ground."

The regeneration work is expected to last approximately two years.
