Former Employee Receives Compensation For Unfair Dismissal

A rigger/erector has been awarded over £3000 after winning an employment inquisition against his former employer for unfair dismissal.

John Kelly was awarded £1,250 in damages for injured feelings and £2,003.11 for being unfairly discharged.

Construction union Unite said the victory "draws a line in the sand" for industry bosses.

Unite Assistant General Secretary, Gail Cartmail, said: "Unite will not tolerate abuse by employers of our elected representatives."
