Morgan Sindall has installed a 30 metre bridge weighing 2,000 tonnes in Cheshire.
The development is part of the Crewe Green Link Road project.
The 54 hour operation took place over the Easter weekend and was the result of three months of construction.
Gary Crisp, Highways Director at Morgan Sindall, said: "The bridge will allow the new road to pass underneath the railway line and installation was meticulously planned to coincide with a weekend rail possession."
Work on the project is due to be completed by the end of 2015.
