Planning has been approved for the University of Huddersfield over its proposed £27.5 million building for the University's Law School and the School of Music, Humanities and Media.

The proposed new building will provide 7,500 square metres of space and will be six storeys high. It will also link into the University's new Student Central building, which was completed in 2014, costing £22.5 million.

The Universities Director of Estates Colin Blair, has said that the plans demonstrate the commitment of the university to continue developing the campus.

He said: "We will now move ahead with the preparations for this important new building, working with a main contractor who will be announced when the tendering process is completed. The successful contractor will begin work on the site during the students’ summer holidays, to avoid any disruptions during examinations."
