Rotherham Brough Council has selected Mears to design and develop two three-bedroom bungalows.
The properties, located in Redscope Crescent and Kimberworth Park, are being designed for families with disabled children.
Planning permission to build the specialist properties was granted in June 2014 and construction of the new homes will start at Easter, with the homes expected to be completed by October 2015.
The project has been funded using the savings generated through the Mears/Morrison repairs and maintenance contract with the Council, with the Council using the savings to increase its housing stock and deliver much needed affordable housing.
The bungalows will be constructed using traditional materials; while the design ensures that the walls and ceilings will support the specialist hoists and handrails necessary for the wellbeing of each child.
