Balfour Beatty Wins £11.6m Contract

The Highways Agency has awarded Balfour Beatty an £11.6m contract.

The scheme is to improve safety at Junction 12 of the M40 in Warwickshire.

The junction serves the nearby Jaguar Landrover headquarters and Heritage Motor Centre and can get extremely busy, with queues of up to 1.2 miles forming on the M40 southbound hard shoulder during the morning peak.

The improvements scheme will include extending the length and widening the southbound slips; adding an extra southbound lane on the B4451 for motorists travelling from Bishop's Itchington towards Gaydon; providing two signal controlled junctions; adding dedicated lanes for vehicles turning right onto the north and southbound on-slips; and linking the scheme to a Warwickshire County Council local road improvement scheme.

Construction work is due to start in spring 2015.
