Henry Boot Construction have started work on a new town centre development in north Sheffield.
The £42m Fox Valley scheme is expected to be complete by Spring 2016.
The firm has started on the main retail and office buildings on the 28-acre former steelworks site.
It is estimated that the development will bring up to 900 new jobs to the area.
The development is being delivered by the Barnsley based retail property company Dransfield Properties Ltd.
The first phase of the project has delivered a new roundabout on the A616 Sheffield to Manchester road, as well as a new warehouse facility for Tata Speciality Steel to allow the relocation of the former steel stockyard from the development site.
A former disused steelworks building has also undergone a major refurbishment project to be brought back into use and work has also started on a second building.
