Britcon Starts Work On New Science Park In Plymouth

Building firm Britcon has started works on site to deliver a £2.6 million, 30,000 sq. ft. extension to the Langage Science Park in Plymouth.

Britcon has been appointed to design and build the project by Plymouth City Council, the owners of the site.

Britcon is delivering two new blocks comprising nine different sized workshop and office units ranging from 1,200 sq. ft to 10,000 sq. ft. The buildings will include energy saving features such as solar photo-voltaic panels to minimise carbon emissions, efficient heating and increased levels on insulation.

The new workshops will be of steel frame construction and clad with Kingspan insulated panels fixed horizontally and vertically in contrasting colours to enhance the appearance. The window/curtain walling and door systems will be fitted with anti-sun glazing and look alike panels to also compliment the visual aspect.

Each workshop will have its own office space and facilities, designed with the ability to provide first floor offices for future expansion. The parking, loading bays and courtyard will be of block paving and the whole development will be fenced and gated for security.
