An £11 million contract to design, upgrade and install over 40km of cables for London Underground has been awarded to Balfour Beatty's Power Systems business.
The project includes the installation of 11kV and 22kV electricity cables, as well as fibre optic pilot cables and the decommissioning of old high voltage cables.
The work will improve resilience across London Underground's power supply infrastructure.
Balfour Beatty was selected for three out of the four work lots awarded under the Power Cabling Framework in spring last year valued at a total of £250m.
Work will start this month and will be completed in early 2017.
