The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has given consent for a gas pipeline to be developed in Willington.
The Willington C Gas Pipeline will provide natural gas for a new power station. It will be approximately 27km in length, buried for its entire length, with an above ground installation at the start point. It will start near Yoxall in Staffordshire, where a connection will be made into the national transmission system, and the pipeline will terminate at a block valve within the site of the new Willington C Power Station in Derbyshire.
The decision announced supports the recommendation made by the Planning Inspectorate and follows an examination process which met or exceeded all the statutory timescales laid down in The Planning Act 2008.
