Significant parts of the roof on Cusworth Hall in Doncaster are to be replaced.
Doncaster Council is investing £370,000 in the project which will begin in January next year.
The work will be carried out by a Yorkshire-based specialist heritage contractor.
Councillor Joe Blackham, Cabinet Member for Assets and Trading Services, said: "Cusworth Hall is one of the borough's most historic and iconic buildings and is enjoyed by thousands of visitors every year.
"This is essential maintenance work and it is right that we make this investment to safeguard Doncaster's heritage."
