Work is to start to replace a damaged safety barrier on the M6 to M42 link road near Birmingham.
The Highways Agency is to begin work to install traffic management on Sunday 23 November.
The M6 southbound (Junction 4a) to M42 southbound link road will be closed from 8pm to 6am on the first and last night of the scheme, while the northbound link road will have two lanes closed and traffic will be diverted around the works on the hard shoulder.
For the rest of the time, both roads will be reduced to one lane 24 hours a day.
Highways Agency Project Manager Purnima Kaul said: "We need to remove and replace two sections of barrier that were damaged in a collision. This work is vital to ensure the barrier does not pose a risk to road users should it be struck by another vehicle.
"To carry the work out safely we need to reduce the number of available lanes. We therefore advise people to allow extra time for their journeys."
