Balfour Beatty Installs Concrete Revetments On Coastal Protection Scheme

Construction company, Balfour Beatty, has started installing over 2000 pre-cast revetment units on the £86m Rossall and Anchorsholme coastal protection scheme.

The project for the Fylde Peninsula Coastal Partnership is in partnership between Blackpool Council, Lancashire County Council, Wyre Council and the Environment Agency.

The 14 tonne revetments form a key element of Anchorsholme's protection and will be topped by a 'wave wall' and promenade.

On the Rossall part of the scheme, 280,000 tonnes of rock are being placed to form a lower revetment and rock groyne structure.

The Anchorsholme section of the scheme will be complete in autumn 2015 and the Rossall section in 2017.
