Flood Defence Work On The River Humber To Begin

Work on flood defences on the River Humber at Albert Dock is to start on Wednesday 12 November.

The £6.3m Environment Agency scheme will involve developing a 950-metre wall, one metre high, that will reduce the risk of flooding to hundreds of properties affected by last December's tidal surge.

A further 600 metres of defences will be built within the Port of Hull to protect the city centre, and repairs will also be made to the Dunston Culvert, which is disused and dilapidated.

Construction is expected to be completed by June 2015.
