Resurfacing work on the A27 in Sussex has started.
Sections of the carriageway will be resurfaced between Falmer and the Southerham roundabout using carriageway closures.
It is due to be completed, weather permitting, by Monday 17 November.
Highways Agency Asset Manager Bob Coram said: "We are resurfacing sections of the A27 to provide safer and smoother journeys for the tens of thousands of drivers that rely on this vital link.
"We have planned the work carefully to take place overnight, when we know traffic flows are at their lowest, to minimise disruption. The diversion will add approximately 10 miles to journeys so I recommend drivers plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time."
The work will be carried out overnight, between 8pm and 6am. On match nights at the Amex stadium, work will start at 11pm.
