The Chairman of Galliford Try is stepping down with "immediate effect".
Ian Coull's post will be temporarily taken up by Chief Executive Greg Fitzgerald, who will act as executive chairman, until a replacement is found.
Mr Coull said: "As a result of my growing business and personal commitments I have decided to step down as Chairman after just under four very enjoyable years at Galliford Try."
The firm said its nomination's committee will start looking for a new Chief Executive.
