Construction firm Morgan Sindall has been selected to build a new £2 million student services facility.
The scheme, for the Arts University in Bournemouth, will see the project team demolish existing buildings to make way for a new, purpose-built sustainable facility which will house the university's Student Services Department and the Student Union.
The new two storey building will include office space and meeting rooms and will be linked to existing buildings by a striking sculptural steel canopy, which, combined with external landscaping, will mark the entrance to the new facilities.
The new brick building will be targeting Passivhaus certification, a leading measure in sustainable construction. This means that the building will be highly insulated and air tight in order to minimise heat loss and the associated carbon emissions and running costs.
