Vinci Begins Work On Mental Health Facility

Work has started on a £9.7m scheme to extend and refurbish a mental health unit in Essex.

Vinci Construction UK began the work at the Derwent Centre, located within the grounds of the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

The Derwent Centre provides in-patient wards and day centre facilities for mentally ill patients in West Essex. When completed, the refurbishment will provide two new wards, each with single en-suite rooms, and a new extension providing daily activities for service users, together with lounge space, a dining room and servery.

Further works include landscaping outdoor spaces and installing a new boiler system for the Centre.

The project is due to be completed in October 2016.
