NG Bailey is to install a new ventilation system at the University of Exeter.
The new technology will be installed at the campus's new Living Systems Institute, a purpose-built multidisciplinary research centre for which NG Bailey has been awarded a £9.3m mechanical and electrical (M&E) contract.
The split-level facility, comprising of two linked buildings – a nine-storey tower block and a six-storey slab block with three basement levels – will house a number of research laboratories, as well as offices and teaching rooms.
The project will see NG Bailey, working alongside main contractor BAM Construction, design, build and install a full scope of M&E solutions for the new site, including the energy-efficient ventilation system.
David Thomas, operations director for NG Bailey, said: "This is a significant and important project for us to have been awarded the contract for.
"In facilities like this, where laboratories require considerable ventilation provisions, increased energy efficiency results in significant savings. This new technology will recoup its initial outlay costs in a very short space of time."
