The last of six spans of the new Festival Viaduct which forms part of Network Rail's £45 million Reading Viaduct project have been installed by Balfour Beatty.

This will ease rail congestion by enabling high speed trains travelling to and from the west to travel over the freight lines.

The Festival Viaduct is a secondary viaduct that branches off from the main Reading Viaduct and will carry the cross-country services above the freight lines.

Each of the twenty-five metre spans installed consists of four concrete beams that were lifted into place by a 750 tonne crane requiring careful planning and road closures.
