Some £1m in funding has been given by the Welsh Government to regenerate Rhyl, Wales.

The funding will be used to provide a boost to town centres and bring empty buildings back into use.

Minister for Housing and Regeneration, Carl Sargeant, said: "I'm excited to announce that the £1 million allocation for Rhyl will be spent on the redevelopment of the Queen Street Building – a building which has been empty for over 20 years.


"The upper floors of the town centre building will be redeveloped to become one and two bedroom flats as we continue to support as many of those affected by the UK Government’s bedroom tax as possible.

"The ground floor will become home to shops and businesses, creating new jobs and training opportunities and providing a boost to the vibrancy of Rhyl town centre."
