Residents Benefit From Energy Efficiency Scheme

Residents of two Arfon villages in Wales are to benefit from a pioneering energy efficiency scheme.

Following a successful bid by Gwynedd Council for funding, work has started on extending the Arbed Community Energy Savings Programme to Carmel and Y Fron areas.

Householders in both villages are being offered a free home energy survey to establish what improvements are needed. Social and private housing are eligible for the scheme.

The work follows the success of the Arbed programme in Nantlle last year, where 81 properties benefited from measures ranging from new central heating systems and boiler replacements to cavity wall and loft insulation. It also led to the village being connected to the gas mains for the first time.

Partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Arbed programme aims to reduce climate change, help eradicate fuel poverty and boost economic development and regeneration in Wales.
