Leisure Centre Improvement Plans To Be Revealed

Plans for improvements to the Dolphin and Triangle leisure centres and plans for Kings Centre in Mid Sussex are to be revealed next week.

Display panels at the centres show customers what their new leisure centre will look like following the refurbishment. Extended fitness suites with brand new gym equipment, state of the art group cycling studios and new reception/café areas are just some of the planned improvements.

At the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill, the fitness suite will be extended to create a spacious new gym area by the end of November 2014. Ultramodern new gym equipment will be installed.

The spa area will be upgraded with a new sauna and steam room. The café/reception area will be renovated and the existing sports shop will be closed and transformed into a new group cycling studio.

Work is underway at the Kings Leisure Centre at East Grinstead to create a significantly extended fitness suite with brand new gym equipment. This will be completed by mid-September. A new soft play area, reception and enlarged changing rooms will create more space for visitors and a new Café will be opened in November.

In Haywards Heath, the fitness suite at the Dolphin will be completely refurbished and redecorated with brand new gym and free weight equipment throughout. A new 'My Ride +' group cycling studio will be created in place of the current sports shop. Riders will face a High Definition forward motion video screen to give the user the feeling that they are riding on the open road. The improvements will be completed by November 2014.

Customers with a Places for People membership will be able to access the new facilities at all three leisure centres. Essential sports items like goggles, armbands and towels will still be available to purchase on site from reception.

In the swimming pools at each of the three sites, more than £100,000 has been invested in safety technology that allows lifeguards to monitor the bottom of the pool using underwater cameras. This safety feature allows lifeguards to be able to monitor below the surface, enabling them to identify a developing incident at an earlier stage.
