Building contractor G F Tomlinson has started developing a new pavilion and teaching suite at Nottingham Trent University's Clifton campus.

The project, known as the Heart of the Campus development, will also involve the upgrade of the existing refectory and library.

Parts of the existing George Eliot building will be replaced by the new pavilion building and it will include a modern reception, a suite of flexible training rooms and provide round the clock study support as well as IT-rich social and exhibition spaces.

The new teaching building will accommodate more than 800 students in three lecture theatres, and will house six flexible rooms configured for modern teaching methods.

The suite will feature a covered terrace and glazed façade. This design will match the new pavilion and new-look refectory. The library is to undergo an internal upgrade and be given a new front entrance while strong, clear pedestrian links will be made central to the landscaping.
