A new wind farm off the coast of Sussex has been given the go-ahead by the government.
Developed by E.ON Climate and Renewables UK Rampion Offshore Wind Ltd., the project is expected to support more than 750 jobs and bring over £2bn investment into the UK economy.
It is thought the wind farm will generate enough electricity to power approximately 450,000 homes, according to the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey said: "We're driving investment in our energy security, and our plans have made us number one in the world for investment in offshore wind energy.
"This project is great news for Sussex, providing green jobs as well as driving business opportunities right across the country in a sector with a clear roadmap for long-term growth."
Onshore construction is expected to start in 2015 and the project, including the offshore installation, will take four years to complete.
