Planning has been approved for Sir Ben Ainslie Racing team's new base in Portsmouth.
Designed by HGP Architects, the new headquarters will provide construction jobs on the Camber.
BAR anticipates the base will create 90 permanent and up to 550 indirect jobs in the area.
The building provides three key functions: team headquarters for design / training; boat building, and public visitor centre / VIP hospitality.
Utilising modern methods of construction, the fabric and technologies incorporated into the design will need to provide carbon neutral credentials.
The concept of the building has been developed around a stepping façade, comprising of a semi transparent PTFE fabric stretched around a robust base structure of polished concrete with the fabric having the capacity to be externally backlit.
The building is due to be completed in May 2015.
