A UK construction firm has started work on a £1.6m cycle link bridge in Stafford.
Balfour Beatty is building a new bridge which will a link over marshland between Baswich and Tixall Road.
As well as providing a leisure route for cyclists, it will also enable commuters to cycle on traffic-free paths.
Balfour Beatty North West Director of Operations, Andrew Mason, said: "I was delighted to join the children and our customer for the start of works on the new Baswich Cycle Bridge.
"It's great to be working again our customer Staffordshire County Council with whom we have a long and successful history of collaboration delivering a number of major schemes including the Redhill and Beacon Business Parks, the JCB and Rocester Village Junction Improvements, and currently the i54 junction on the M54."
