Lovell is building a £5 m development of 58 affordable homes for social housing provider Riverside as part of the ongoing regeneration of the Raffles estate in Carlisle.

The project is a partnership between Riverside, Carlisle City Council and Lovell. The cost of the homes is being supported by funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.

The new homes will be a mix of bungalows and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, which will all be for affordable rent. The properties are due for completion in early 2015.

Over the past decade, Lovell has built 262 new homes as part of the transformation of Raffles, in partnership with Riverside and Carlisle City Council. The latest phase of development will provide much-needed new affordable homes.

Riverside's project manager Rebecca Kenvyn said: "In continuing to build quality homes for affordable rent, we believe we're making a real difference to our customers, especially those families and individuals in greatest need."
