Work is to begin on Monday 16 June on a £250,000 major resurfacing scheme for the A2 Buncrana Road, Londonderry, from Messines Park to Balliniska Road, Northern Ireland's Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced.
The Minister said: "This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on part of this important road cross border route."
In order to minimise disruption to traffic, the majority of the work will be undertaken from 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 12 noon on Saturdays. The scheme has also been programmed for the summer holiday period to minimise interference with school traffic.
However for particular operations it will be necessary to close the road, details of which will be advised later. At other times during the duration of the work, temporary traffic control measures in the form of stop-go boards will be operational.
The scheme is expected to be substantially completed by 28 August 2014.
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and DRD will keep the public informed of any change.
DRD has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
