This summer, work will be taking place on the M4 in Berkshire resulting in smoother journeys for drivers and maintained safety.
The work is being carried out as part of the government's investment into infrastructure and will involve resurfacing and drainage maintenance between junctions 10 and 8/9. The resurfacing work follows the improvements to the road surface on the M4 between junction 10 and 12 which are due to be completed next month.
Guy Watts, Highways Agency Project Sponsor said: "We are continuing to carry out important maintenance to the road surface and drainage on the M4, moving from the completed sections between junctions 10 and 12 and on to sections between junctions 10 and 8/9. The resurfacing here will provide drivers with a smoother ride with reduced noise to nearby properties.
"As with all work we carry out, we plan so that any disruption is kept to a minimum and that is why work will take place overnight, when traffic flows are lowest, and with diversions in place when a section of the road is closed. The overnight resurfacing work will begin with lane closures on the M4 eastbound at junction 10 starting on Thursday 13 June for 15 nights. Work on the westbound carriageway will then start on 18 June for 12 nights, using full overnight road closures. Drainage improvements are scheduled to start next month (July) for five months, with hard shoulder and lane closures in place for this work to be safely carried out. Further detail will be publicised in advance."
