Repair Work To Begin On Norfolk Bridges

Road users are being reminded that work to repair and maintain three bridges along a two-mile section of the A47 in Norfolk, keeping journeys safe and reliable for road users, will begin this weekend.

Three bridges will re-waterproofed and resurfaced: the A47 River Great Ouse Bridge, the River Nar Bridge and the Harbour Junction Bridge.

Advance work will start on Sunday evening (8 June). From Monday morning, 9 June, there will be a 30 mph speed limit between A47 Pullover Roundabout and A47/A10/A149 Hardwick Roundabout and single lanes will be operating in each direction. From Saturday 14 June – one week earlier than planned – a contraflow operation will begin for six weeks.

Highways Agency project manager Ranjit Mistry said: "We are working hard to keep disruption to an absolute minimum while we carry out this vital work.

"Installing waterproofing protection on concrete bridges is weather dependent and is best undertaken during the summer when the weather is better. We are aiming to finish the work on 29th July – before the busiest holiday period."
