Leeds-based affordable housing and regeneration specialist Lovell has appointed 23-year-old Tate Smith as a trainee quantity surveyor.
As well as working with Lovell, Tate attends the University of Central Lancashire on day release. Lovell, which has its Eastern regional office at the City West Office Park in Leeds, is part-funding his studies for a BSc degree in Quantity Surveying.
"I have wanted to work in construction since leaving high school," said Tate who has already completed an HND in Quantity Surveying and previously worked for B & W Builders in north Wales. "I like the idea of building structures that will be here for years to come and that will affect people’s lives. I particularly enjoy the variety of the work as I am doing something different every day dealing with different trades and construction professionals.” As a fully qualified quantity surveyor, he will play a key role on construction projects, managing costs and the contractual relationships between the different people involved."
Tate is currently working under the supervision of an experienced Lovell quantity surveyor learning the profession. Eventually, he will progress to manage his own projects independently.
