Care Home In Hull Redeveloped

Hull City Council has redeveloped a former care home into 18 flats.

Salinger House, in Bransholme, Hull was a former adult services learning disability care home and became redundant in 2012.

The Council has worked in partnership with NPS Humber and KWL to develop the former care home into 18 flats consisting of 14 x 1 bedroomed flats, 2 x 1 bedroom bungalows and 2 x 2 bedroomed flats.

The Council successfully bid to the Homes and Communities Agency for empty homes funding in the region of £5 million, which has allowed for a scheme to progress and work on a number of empty commercial properties to be developed. This is the first of a number of empty properties to be transformed into homes.

Councillor John Black, Portfolio Holder for Council Infrastructure, said: "This is an exciting regeneration scheme; it is the first commercial property to be transformed to provide vital one and two bedroomed homes for rent.

"It is great a great example of partnership working for the benefit of the residents and local community.

"This continues to highlight the Council's commitment to revitalising empty and vacant properties, back to life, that will in turn make a difference to people who need this type of accommodation."
