The Graham team at Brooklands Road in St. Helens are making steady progress with next stage of the project underway.
In order to alleviate flooding to the 40 properties identified as at risk in the Brooklands Road area of Eccelston, a 20m diameter storm water detention tank with a storage capacity of 2445m3 is being built.
Also in progress is an 80m long tunnel, a 3.66m isolation chamber and 500m concrete storm sewer which together will provide extra capacity should extreme storm weather occur.
The on-going works are located in a field adjacent to Christ Church Eccleston, which has recently celebrated its 175 year anniversary. The team are also working in conjunction with local protection orders enforced to preserve the surrounding trees in the area.
The next phases of work includes the construction of other sewers and manholes along Chapel Lane, Acacia Grove, Springfield Lane and Pikes Bridge Fold.
