Turley Advises LFC On Proposed Stadium Expansion Plans

Planning consultancy Turley is advising Liverpool Football Club on its proposed stadium expansion plans which aim to deliver an expanded stadium and improved public realm space around the stadium.

The expansion will support the wider Anfield area regeneration led by Liverpool City Council.

Consultation on the proposed plans has started and includes the redevelopment of the Main Stand which could add an additional 8,500 seats, taking the Main Stand capacity to nearly 21,000 and overall Anfield capacity to around 54,000.

Incorporating the iconic club crest into the proposed Main Stand's exterior elevation, the scheme will also include a two-storey podium and a carefully designed cloister which will become the new home for the Hillsborough Memorial. The Main Stand will open onto a wide public concourse that will link the Stadium into the wider Anfield area.

The outline proposals for the Anfield Road Stand provide for an increase in its capacity of around 4,800 seats.

Sam Ryan, Project Director, Turley, said: "We are proud to be involved in the Club's future and in delivering a brighter future for Anfield. The scheme will deliver a huge range of benefits both for the Club in terms of increased capacity and modern facilities, and for the fans an improved spectator experience.

"New areas of open public space around the Stadium are proposed for use by residents and the community on non-match days. The expansion brings significant economic benefits both to the region and to the City and will provide the catalyst to further regeneration of the Anfield area as part of wider regeneration plans."

Turley is leading the preparation of the planning application, liaising with Liverpool City Council and other stakeholders and is working with the Club to ensure effective pre-application engagement with the local community and businesses.

Following this consultation process, it is expected that a planning application will be submitted to the City Council in early summer.
