Construction union UCATT are calling for a lifeline to be found after a Doncaster company called in the receivers.

The 50 Workers at Norking Aluminium, which produces fabricated aluminium frames, were informed on Friday that the company was going into administration and they would be made redundant.

UCATT, who have already been in contact with the administrators Wilson Field, still hope that a buyer can be found for the company and that jobs can be saved.

Local UCATT Regional organiser John McIntyre is to meet the workforce and the union is putting systems in place to ensure the workers receive all the redundancy and compensation that they are entitled to.

UCATT are also exploring what re-training opportunities can be provided for the workers who have been made redundant.

Mr McIntyre said: "This is a bitter blow for a hard working dedicated workforce. Every effort should be made to find a buyer for the company to save as many jobs as possible."
