A major milestone was recently reached on Graham Construction's Enfield Joint Service Centre Project. The frame is taking shape and the floor slabs are laid.

Councillors, community and health representatives joined Graham at a ceremony to mark this point in the building works.

The unique building, now called the Ordnance Unity Centre, is not only Enfield Council's new library, but it also has a community hall and doctors' and dentists' surgeries.

It replaces the old Ordnance Road Library, Kettering Hall and the Ordnance Road GP surgery. A dental surgery is a welcome addition.

Designed to the highest standards, the premises for each service will offer much needed local health care and community facilities which will operate independently.

Cllr Christine Hamilton, Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Wellbeing and Public Health, said: "Ordnance Unity Centre will provide essential services for this area improving lives in every way.

"This project has been planned with local people, the NHS and the council. It will soon be complete and established as an indispensable community building for people of all ages to use and enjoy."
