Forty-six new affordable homes will be built in Barnsley thanks to £736,000 funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
Cabinet members approved a report giving details of the two schemes at Roy Kilner Road, Wombwell and Saville Road, Gilroyd.
The 37 unit development at Roy Kilner Road, Wombwell consists of:
• Four two bedroom, three-person apartments
• One four bedroom, seven-person wheelchair access bungalow
• Three four bedroom, five-person houses
• 15 three bedroom, four or five-person houses
• 14 two bedroom, four-person houses
The nine unit development at Saville Road, Gilroyd consists of:
• Two two bedroom, four-person semi-detached houses
• Six three bedroom, five person semi-detached houses
• One four bedroom, six person detached house
Both schemes will be delivered by Berneslai Homes on behalf of the council and on completion, will become social rented housing. Planning consent has been granted for both schemes and a competitive procurement process for the design and build was conducted.
