After successfully working on the first building that forms part of the University of Liverpool's new Bio-Science facility, contractor McMullen Facades, part of the Lakesmere Group, has secured a £3.2m contract to deliver the full vertical envelope to the second phase.

McMullen will provide a 'fast-track' installation to deliver a unitised glazing system to the facade of the new four-storey building in just eight-weeks. McMullen's scope of works for main contractor Shepherd Construction, will also include the installation of an anodised rainscreen cladding system and a traditional 'stick-built' facade for the facility's large atrium. The unitised system will be designed and manufactured off-site at McMullen's factory in Moira, Northern Ireland.

The first phase of the University's state-of-the-art scientific research facility officially opened in 2012 and is named after past Nobel Prize winner, Sir Ronald Ross. McMullen is expected to commence work on the second phase in August 2014.
