The transformation of a 1980s office building into a high quality care and nursing home is progressing at speed as contractor, Wates, prepares to embark on the second phase of the development on Pegs Lane.
Work on Bentley House, which is being delivered on behalf of Signature Senior Lifestyle, began in October last year and has so far seen Wates carry out structural refurbishment to the former insurance building to create a 5,000 sq m registered care home.
The contractor is currently putting the finishing touches to the external remodeling of the five-storey complex, including the installation of a new roof, plant equipment and enhancements to the building's insulation.
Once complete, the luxury scheme, which has been designed by PRP Architects, will feature 85 private apartments ranging from studios, one and two-bedroom suites. The home will offer Signature's exceptional residential and nursing care and outstanding facilities and services, all within a comfortable, friendly and home-like environment.
The second phase of the work will now see Wates deliver the interior fit-out of the building, which will also provide 18 specialist dementia suites, shared lounge areas and bath spas on each floor. Additional facilities will include a cinema room, a hair salon and private dining areas.
Set in landscaped grounds, the new development will also include potting gardens, raised beds and a greenhouse for residents' recreational use. Completion of the project is expected at the end of the year.
