Lovell Searches For New Apprentices

Housing developer Lovell is searching for four new apprentices to work on its major housing regeneration programme for Southampton City Council.

Creating training opportunities is a central part of the company's commitment to delivering a lasting legacy in the communities where it works. The Southampton opportunities are being launched in the run-up to National Apprenticeship Week (3 to 7 March) which highlights the value of apprentice training to both businesses and individuals.

Lovell will recruit four new trainees this Spring to join the three apprentices it has already employed to work on the 221-home new-build scheme in Southampton.

The company is working with housing association First Wessex to deliver the major regeneration programme.

Lovell is now looking to recruit three apprentice bricklayers and a carpenter to work on the three new housing developments being created: Mansfield Park at Exford Avenue, Harefield; Mayflower Mews at Laxton Close, Sholing and Montague Place at Meggeson Avenue, Bitterne Park.

The new apprentices will have the chance to gain nationally-recognised NVQ qualifications working on site with Lovell and attending City College Southampton on day release. It will bring the total number of Lovell apprentices working on the Southampton scheme to seven.

Lovell regional training advisor Elle Gaffney said: "This is a great opportunity to earn as you learn, working under the supervision of qualified tradespeople and with the support of a national company behind you.

"Our apprentices gain solid practical experience, as well as receiving plenty of help with their college studies, and support with the costs of training. They are each appointed a training mentor, who develops a programme designed around the individual and oversees their progress. Lovell is committed to offering this kind of opportunity in the areas where we work, helping people gain the skills they need to build rewarding careers in construction."
