Forrest Become Apprenticeship Ambassadors

The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) has appointed social housing regeneration specialist Forrest, as an "apprenticeship ambassador".

Forrest's learning and development manager Paul Rigby, will join organisations including Unilever, BAE Systems and Bentley Motors, in an effort to promote and encourage companies in the North to consider introducing the qualification.

The group will meet regularly to debate issues that affect the quality and effectiveness of apprenticeships, working with the government, the NAS and the UK Commission for Employment and Skills.

As an apprenticeship ambassador, Mr Rigby will attend regional events and business forums to share best practice and advice about funding options to help firms hire and train more apprentices.

Through the new role he has also signed up as a volunteer with Inspiring the Future, a free service which sees people from all sectors engaging with schools and colleges to talk about their jobs and education. Its aim is to demonstrate the breadth of careers and study options available and inspire young people to reach their potential.

Paul said: "Apprentices are the backbone of Forrest, and we are staunch believers that these qualifications can – and should – play an important role for any company looking to develop their workforce. Being appointed to this position is evidence that Forrest is seen as a leader in this field, and we will look hard to boost the number of quality apprenticeships offered across the UK."
