There has been a recent, welcome new addition to St Benedict’s School in Bury St Edmunds, as their new sports pitches have come to fruition. This outstanding school boasts 6 acres of playing fields, which includes a block of 4 multi-sport courts.
Over the years these courts have been well utilised by the school but the time had come for them to be replaced.
Due to the huge success in the area of Playrite's Matchplay 2 on projects such as Kesgrave and Mildenhall schools, then it was the obvious choice when replacing the existing pitches at St Benedicts. Due to the surfaces ease of installation and low maintenance requirements it was a very attractive proposition for the school.
All 4 courts were replaced in Matchplay 2 sporting green with inlaid lines for different sports including netball, hockey, football and tennis.
Playrite's Steve Byrnes really took the time to understand the schools use of these facilities and how the surface considerations would impact upon the way they would use the courts. In fact, a major reason for Matchplay 2’s recommendation was that it meets All England Netball preferred standards.
Matchplay 2 is an excellent choice for a multi-sport surface as it is hardwearing, durable and suitable to many different sports such as tennis, netball, hockey, football and basketball. Being sand dressed, after installation the performance characteristics are evident from day one and play can commence immediately
Working alongside Playrite, Jez Ansty of Eastern Facilities Management made sure it was possible to meet a very tight turn-around time and deliver superb courts in a very short space of time. Matchplay 2 has turned out to be the perfect solution for the schools requirements.
