A man who saved nearly £30 a month on his gas bills after using a new comparison site is urging other people to follow his lead.
Graham Howe from Chorlton made an annual saving of £335 after switching from British Gas via www.betterenergydeals.org.uk, launched by the Greater Manchester authorities after some of the big energy companies announced they will be increasing their rates over the winter.
People from across the region are being urged to visit the site before these price rises come into effect and find out how much they could save by changing to another supplier.
Graham's saving, worth just under £28 a month, is also fixed until April 2015. He was able to switch from British Gas before their prices went up on November 23, but price hikes are also planned by Npower on December 1, Scottish Power on December 6 while Co-op and EDF are putting their prices up in the new year.
He said: "I'd been with my previous supplier for three years and had never really bothered looking into switching. It was a really easy process – just a few clicks and it came up with my options. It didn’t need to know anything about my meter readings – just how much I paid per month.
"I'd recommend anyone visit this site and see whether they can save any money."
