The expected decision on the planning application to regenerate the south of Brentford High Street has been delayed until next year.

The developers, Ballymore, made the decision to delay the application to allow them to carry out further work on the transport impacts of the proposals.

Cllr Steve Curran, cabinet member for regeneration at the council, said: "We are all keen to see the regeneration of the town and whilst it’s disappointing to see the delay, it’s also encouraging that Ballymore are prepared to take a little more time to get all details of the scheme right from day one.

"This pause – and it is only a pause – will mean the developers can make sure they are putting together the best proposals they can in an improving market. It also means that we can continue to discuss the phasing of affordable housing within the scheme which will be of benefit to the local community.

"Any changes to the plans will, of course, be consulted on, so people can have their say on the final proposals that go to planning committee, and I’d encourage everyone interested in the plans to make their views heard."
