Balfour Beatty and Urbanest have won the 'Best Social or Affordable Housing Development' award for the construction of the Urbanest Tower Bridge student accommodation in London, at prestigious national Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Excellence Awards this week.

The LABC represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales. Finalists for these awards are judged on construction and technical excellence which showcase project teams who have produced innovative and creative solutions on complex schemes.

Balfour Beatty was also a finalist in the 'Best Community Building' and 'Best Technical Innovation' categories for its work at Cromer and District Hospital, in addition to the 'Best Community Building' and 'Best Education Building' categories for Plymouth Life Centre and Saint Ambrose College respectively.
